Terms of Service

Blok is an independent project built by a single UvA student. It is not produced by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the University of Amsterdam. These terms describe what using Blok means while it is free to use.

Blok is free right now

Blok does not sell anything at the moment. There is no checkout, no pass to buy, and no payment details are asked for anywhere on the site. If paid access is ever introduced, these terms will be updated before any payment is taken.

What you can read, and with what

• Without an account — the first lecture of every course's study guide.
• With a free, verified account — every lecture and the full question bank of each course marked as open in the catalog. Courses marked “Coming soon” open as their content is finished.

Which courses are open can change as content is added or as the free period ends.

Account use

Sign-up is open to anyone with an @student.uva.nl, @uva.nl, @student.auc.nl or @auc.nl email address, and the address must be verified through the link we email to it before the account can be used. One account is for one person — do not share your login with anyone else, and do not create an account with an email address that is not your own.

Content ownership

The summaries, diagrams, and example questions on Blok are original work, written for this site, and are licensed to you for your own personal study — not for redistribution, resale, or republishing elsewhere. Blok does not reproduce official UvA course material, lecture slides, or past exam papers; where a topic references exam-style material, it is an original example written for Blok, not a copy of a real past paper or its official solution.
